In 2021, CTAP entered into an agreement (HOA) with Touchsides S.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Heineken International, to support and grow taverns through technological integration. By the end of the 2021 financial year, 12,258 taverns were actively using Touchsides ePOS terminals. The initiative's success was undeniable, with the collective revenue of participating taverns reaching an impressive R14.24 billion during the period. This initiative clearly demonstrated that technology could significantly boost the earning potential of informal businesses willing to embrace it. On average, participating taverns more than doubled their annual turnover, showcasing the transformative power of digital tools in informal markets.
